Glass Greenhouse

Vermont’s most bountiful crop may be fieldstone and rocks, but this client was determined to add both beauty and nutritious functionality to their homestead. Serving as generator contractor, we helped them prepare the site for the installation of a new greenhouse.

    Story

While we prefer to build with wood whenever possible, sometimes a bit of metal and glass is the right choice. In this case, the client and her landscape designer identified Hartley Botanic (which is based in England but installs greenhouses throughout the United States and especially New England) to provide a stunning greenhouse.

As general contractor for the project, we prepared the site including a concrete foundation, plumbing and electrical hookups. Before Hartley Botanic would bring the greenhouse onsite for installation, they needed to ensure the site was prepared to their exact specifications. The installation took about two days, and the Hartley crew was fanastic!

To finish the project, we wrapped the foundation of the greenhouse in copper cladding and coordinated with local stone masons to build a field stone wall and lay goshen for the floor.
